Kazakh permanent representative to OIC meets organization’s Secretary General

The Permanent Representative of Kazakhstan to the Organization of Islamic Cooperation Organization (OIF) Bakhyt Batyrshayev met with OIC Secretary General Ekmeleddin Ihsanoglu in Jeddah (Saudi Arabia) on Monday, the press service of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Kazakhstan told Trend.

The Permanent Representative of Kazakhstan to the Organization of Islamic Cooperation Organization (OIF) Bakhyt Batyrshayev met with OIC Secretary General Ekmeleddin Ihsanoglu in Jeddah (Saudi Arabia) on Monday, the press service of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Kazakhstan told Trend.

During the meeting the OIC head was formally handed over document of ratification by Kazakhstan of the organization's charter.

Ihsanoglu welcomed this decision, further contributing to the universalization of the charter as the primary document of the OIC.

During the meeting the sides exchanged views on the current chairmanship of Kazakhstan in the OIC and process of implementation of initiatives of President Nursultan Nazarbayev aimed to increase the effectiveness of economic, investment and political cooperation among member states of the organization, including a proposal for the establishment of food security system, fund to support small and medium business, OIC participation in the "G20" meetings.

The Secretary General praised the presidency of Kazakhstan in the OIC, noting its active role and meaningful contribution to solving the problems of the Islamic world.
