OSCE: Journalists should not face problems while performing their professional activities
Azerbaijan, Baku, Nov 12 /Trend M. Aliyev/
We must strive to ensure that journalists will not face any problems while performing their professional activities, OSCE Representative on Freedom of the Media Dunja Mijatovic said at the workshop Security of journalists during public events.
"We must create the conditions for journalists to freely receive information. And a duty of journalists is to behave as representatives of the media, without turning into the participants of the event," she said.
The OSCE representative said events dedicated to the topic are carried out in many OSCE member countries, and also noted that the cooperation between the police and journalists should be at a high level.
Mijatovic said the event is carried out at the suggestion of the Azerbaijani side and it is important to continue such activities.
"Representation on Freedom of the Media gives recommendations. It is also a practical stage, because the problems faced by journalists, may be different. No country is immune to any problems, and we have to study them," Mijatovic said.
