In January to July 2006 the communications enterprises provided population and economic subjects with services worth 297.2m AZN, or 24.7% more than 2005. Of them 29.7% was rendered to public enterprises, 70.3% - private companies, which rose 24.6% and 24.7% respectively. A total of 75.1% of all services was delivered to people.

During January-July 2006, the Ministry of Communication and IT of Azerbaijan put in use 125,000 phone numbers.

Over the first 7 months of 2006 the Ministry of Communications and Information Technologies invested 17.07mln AZN in the telecommunications sphere. The funds were directed the reconstruction of communications facilities, construction of new telephone lines in outskirts of Baku and region of Azerbaijan. Significant rise was observed in regions: the telecommunications services in the Absheron region rose 7.6%, Guba Khachmaz 14.3%, Shirvan 11.8%, Shaki Zakatala 33.6%, Ganja-Gazakh 18.7%, Nakhchivan - 14.7%, Lankaran 15.6%, Aran 18.3%.

In this period Aztelekom invested 5.66m manats in the development of the communications sector, Baki Telefon Rabitasi 8.0 manats, Teleradio 1.5m manats, Azerpocht 726,300 manats.

In the first 7 months of 2006 incomes of the Ministry of Communications and Information Technologies made up 104m manats, 23.2m manats. According to the Ministry, incomes from community payments made up 34m manats. The figure exceeded the last year figure 4.1m manats.

Incomes from mobile communications comprise 64% of entire incomes, obtained in the communications sector. The amount of services rose 28.6% and attained 127.6m manats.

The amount of services rose 24.5% and attained 190.1m manats. As of 1 July, the number of mobile subscribers rose 44.6% and comprised 2.6m. Azerbaijan has almost achieved an average world indicator and the foreign investors regard the Azerbaijani mobile market to have more potential for development.

In this period the clientele base of Bakcell exceeded 700,000 subscribers. In this period the subscribers of Azercell Telecom exceeded 2 million people.
