Khanlar Veliyev, the Azerbaijan Military Prosecutor, said in talks with journalists on 20 January 2007 that Elkhan Huseynov, a commander of Military Unit X, dislocated in Fuzuli District of Azerbaijan, has been arrested for driving a soldier to commit suicide, Trend reports.
The Prosecutor said that the Commander is charged in accordance with Article 125 of the Criminal Code of Azerbaijan - driving someone to suicide. Mr. Veliyev added that the Azerbaijani officer is not accused of reportedly using torture against a soldier of the Azerbaijani National Army, Vusal Garajayev, who was taken a prisoner of war by the Armenian military on 7 December.
The accused Huseynov, who was taken into custody first, was released after the cancellation of the appropriate sentence by the Court of Appeal. At present he is giving testimonies to the investigation, Mr. Veliyev said.
