GUAM Summit Expected to Be Held in Baku at end of June

Azerbaijan, Baku / Trend , corr. S. Aghayeva/ The next regular summit of the Heads of the Member-States of "Organization for Democracy and Economic Development - GUAM" is expected to be held in Baku towards the end of June.

The preliminary date of the forthcoming summit has been reviewed by the National Co-ordinators of the Organization during the present sitting of the Committee of National Co-ordinators of the Organization held in Kiev.

According to Sabuhi Tamirov, Azerbaijan's Permanent Representative to the Organization, they have come to an agreement to hold the meetings of the Foreign Ministers of GUAM Member-States, the Committee of National Co-ordinators and Ministers on other fields of the Organization.

The National Co-ordinators also discussed the Temporary Procedure to agree on joint announcements taken by GUAM, issues relating to the advancement of the draft resolution in the agenda of the 61st session of the U. N. General Assembly "Lingering conflicts on the territory of GUAM countries and their consequences for the international community, security, and development. In addition, the diplomats viewed the issue of a possible conference "Organization for Democracy and Economic Development - GUAM: Priorities and Perspectives" in Washington.

The above-mentioned event is expected to be held in the second half of 2007.
