Azerbaijan, Khachmaz, 19 January / Trend corr. А.Gafarov / The activity of radical religious groups has been observed in the north borders of Azerbaijan with Russia.
"The huge number of religious books have been bringing to Azerbaijan by contrabandists," Eynulla Nurullayev, the director of the north Department of the State Committee on Work with Religious Structures, stated to Trend on 19 January.
Those books are popularizing untraditional religious groups, radical vahabism and serve anti Islamic interests of some missionaries.
As a result of the operation held by the Azerbaijani National Security Ministry huge amount of prohibited religious books were revealed in the apartment of Shaban Eyvazov.
During the neutralizing of the radical religious group headed by Abudjafarov, it was revealed that Telman Abdullayev, the resident of the Gusar region and have been searched due to injure of two policemen on 26 September 2006, was a member of the group.
Nurullayev said that the religious book, which legally imported to the country, have been checked by a special expertise. The recent religious state in the country is satisfying.
