An Azerbaijani court did not granted the appeal of the "Forest Brothers" paramilitary group accused of terrorism in Azerbaijan.

Today, the Baku Appeal Court has held the trial meeting on consideration of the appeal.

The court kept the Azerbaijani Heinous Crimes Court's sentence against the group in force.

The court sentenced Azerbaijani citizens Elnur Bashirov and Gudrat Malikov to 15 years each in prison, Khalid Velimatov - 14, Ulfat Malikov - 13, Vahid Asadov - 15, Zabit Shıxaliyev - 7, Fariz Mammadov - 8, Samir Babayev - 8, Anar Valiyev - 8, Rasim Isgandarov - 8, Elshan Allahverdiyev - 8, Rafiq Agacanov - 6, Taleh Maharramov - 8, Teymur Narimanov - 6, Kamran Bozarki - 8, Azər Bakhishov - 6, Vusal Orujov - 5.5, Alexander Nuraliyev - 5.5, Mammad Mammadov - 5.5, Elkhan Osmanov - 6, Zaur Jafarov - 6, Rafig Rzayev - 5.5, Sardar Bunyatov - 5.5, Russian citizen Magomed Isayev - 15 and Turkish citizens Yamin Ali - 6 and Ozdamir Ergin - 2.

The group planned to organize terrorist acts against the state. They are also accused of committing a terrorist attack against the Abu Bakr Mosque in Baku's Narimanov district.

The individuals are charged in accordance with Articles 214 of the Azerbaijani Criminal Code (Terrorism), Article 120 (Premeditated Murder), Article 279 (Creating an Armed Formation) and Article 228 (Illegal Purchase, Transfer, Sale, Possession of Firearms).
