Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources of Azerbaijan appealed to the Interior Ministry for investigating the causes of forest fires that have occurred in Shabran district, the Minister of Ecology and Natural Resources Huseyngulu Bagirov briefed the media on August 3.
According to the minister, the appeal asks to investigate the causes of forest fires and bring to justice those responsible.
Several days ago, bushes and trees burned in the Zeyvya village of Shabran district in an area of five hectares of state forest fund, controlled by the Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources.
Other part of the territory of the forest has been protected from fire.
The cause of fires is carelessness of the population, Bagirov said.
"The forest department said that the cause of the fire is carelessness. I would say that the fire occurred because of neglect," said the minister.
According to the minister, the fires were extinguished in a short time.
"Fire in Shabran was extinguished with joint efforts by the Ministry of Emergency Situations and the local population," Bagirov said.
