Temperatures will fall by late this week, Azerbaijani Ecology and Natural Resources Ministry National Hydrometeorological Department official Umayra Tagiyeva told Trend today.
"The heatwave will continue during the first half of the week," she said. "The air temperature will reach 36-39 degrees in Baku and on the Absheron Peninsula during the day, 39-41 degrees in the Aran region, and 26-31 degrees in foothills and mountainous areas."
Tagiyeva added that temperatures will fall by 3-4 degrees later this week.
"Short rains will hit some of the country's foothill and mountain areas," she said.
