Azerbaijan, Baku, April 14 / Trend /

Director General of Russia's 2018 World Cup Organizing Committee Alexei Sorokin admitted that he really liked Baku's bid for hosting the Olympic Games in 2020 in terms of organizing the presentations and a film, ITAR-TASS said on Saturday.

"I think the bid could 'ignite' the audience," he said. "The film and Azerbaijani first lady's speech were good. One can see that the country wants to gain the right to host the Olympic Games -2020."

The candidate countries have made presentations to host the 2020 Summer Olympic Games at the Moscow World Trade Center today. They were presented at the General Assembly of the Association of National Olympic Committees.

Besides Baku, five cities, including Doha, Qatar, Madrid, Spain, Istanbul, Turkey and Tokyo, Japan claim for hosting the 2020 Summer Olympic Games.

Sorokin said following the presentations that all candidates claiming to host the Olympic Games in 2020 are worthy to reach final.

Sorokin added that the competition of candidate cities is a long race. He hopes that the executive committee of the International Olympic Committee will make a decision not to reduce the number of applicants claiming to host the Olympics.

"I hope the International Olympic Committee will give them all an opportunity to continue the rivalry. Moreover, Rome has already left the competition. At present, all candidates are worthy to reach the final."

The International Olympic Committee will declare the host country of the Olympic Games in Buenos Aires (Argentina) in September 2013.
