A member of the Azerbaijani Olympic team, Mariya Stadnik, participating in women's 48kg freestyle wrestling, has today become the second of the London Olympics, defeated in the final by Japanese Hitomi Obara in the stubborn fight and thus winning the second silver for our team.
Stadnik, World and European champion, bronze medalist at the 2008 Olympics in Beijing in the round of last 16 defeated the U.S. Clarissa Kyoko Mei Ling Chun. In the first period, she won 2-0, in the second - 3-0. Thus, she qualified for quarterfinals, where she defeated Iwona Nina Matkowska from Poland.
In the semifinal she defeated Ukrainian Irini Merleni (1-0, 3-0) to reach the final.
