The Cabinet of Ministers hosted on 17 February the first meeting of the State Commission on warning against bird flu in Azerbaijan and coordination of joint activities of all structures in this sphere. The State Commission was established at the presidential decree dated 16 February 2006. The gathering was held under the leadership of the chairman of the state commission, the first vice premier, Abbas Abbasov.
After the discussions the gathering adopted Plan on extreme measures on prophylactics of bird flu in the territory of Azerbaijan. Besides, the state commission also established a task force in charge of development of a program on Prophylactics of bird flu and documents to be put for consideration of the Sate Commission in connection with the situation evolved.
Attending the gathering were representatives from the Ministries of Finances, Economic Development, Emergencies, Labor and Social Security, Agriculture, Health, Interior Affairs, Ecology and Natural Resources, and Foreign Affairs. The State Customs Committee and the State Border Service were given definite instructions on prophylactics of bird flu.
