Azerbaijan, Baku / Trend corr K. Almadatov / On 31 October, the price for a loaf of bread in Azerbaijani Tovuz region increased from AZN 0.2 to AZN 0.25.
"Bread prices increased because the price for a sack of flour rose by AZN 2," Tovuz region's bread sellers said to Trend . On 30 October 40kg of flour cost AZN 20, but on 31 October it amounted to AZN 22.
Bread prices have been increasing in Azerbaijan for some 2 months. According to experts, the rise was caused by grain shortage, as well as increasing grain prices in exporter countries.
Azerbaijan's annul grain demand makes up 3mln tons (1mln tons is imported mainly from Russia, Kazakhstan and Ukraine.
A loaf of bread (500gm) in Baku averagely costs AZN 0.30.
