Azerbaijan, Baku, Dec. 19 / Trend , S.Babayeva /"Imported cheap poultry in Azerbaijan have a negative influence on locan entrepreneurs, which are incapable to sell their on production on domestic markets," Aydin Valiyev, the head of the Republic Poultry-Farms Society, said.

"We cannot sell our production, since enormous volume of inexpensive poultry is imported to the country from abroad. The buyer ability of population has also drop in addition. We [poultry farmers] survive now worse period, Valiyev said.

Valiyev considers that the problem is in the absence of legislation on the protection of the domestic market of the country.

According to him, the issue with respect to expensive fodder has not been settled yet. Fodder is imported to the country for the poultry-breeding enterprises from abroad.

"We repeatedly turned themselves to the government with the proposal to abolish VAT to imported fodders, but no respond has been made. Prices were reduced only for grain, and we buy soybean (price of one ton of soybean is $700). Now we sell chicken almost for the prime cost. But even in this case products are not bought", Valiyev added.

Previously two large poultry-breeding factories of the country - Merdekan Broyler and Hovsan Broyler wee shut down, and the analogue is now happening with the Goradil Qusculuq.

In 2007, some 50,000 tons of poultry was produced in Azerbaijan. According to the forecasts of the Poultry-Farmers Society, this number considerably will be lowered in 2008.

The Azerbaijani Society of Poultry-Farmers was founded on July 24, 1997. The Society unites individuals and legal persons that are carried out the production of bird meat and eggs in the territory of Azerbaijan. It unites 29 enterprises (such as Mardakan Broyler, Siyazan Broyler, Devechi Broyler, Zira Broyler, Arco Co, Imishli Broyler, Shamkir Broyler).
