The European Commission will allocate €40 million to finance projects in the Eastern Europe and South Caucasus, the European Commission reported.

This assistance is directed to finance programs to strengthen culture policy and civil society, support small- and medium-sized entrepreneurship, manage air environment, as well as emergency preparedness. All funded projects will be regional in nature, the European Commission said.

"I am pleased to provide financial support worth €40 million to projects of our partner countries on the eastern border," European Commissioner for Foreign Policy and European Neighborhood Policy Benita Ferrero-Waldner said. "They share many problems, and a joint approach to solving these problems can help to build a trust between the partner countries, thus strengthening security, security, stability and prosperity in the region."
