China keen to finance Iran steel projects

The largest steel factory developer in China has expressed its readiness to invest and finance steel projects in Iran.

IRNA news agency reported on Saturday that Iran Mining Industries and Mines Development and Renovation Organization (IMIDRO) chairman held a meeting with China's MCC Company president in which the Chinese side proposed various solutions to alleviate Iran's financial problems in its steel projects. 

Shen Heting suggested holding negotiations with Chinese banks aimed at financing the projects, partnership in constructing the projects or implementing the projects in buy-back method as ways to finance the projects.

IMIDRO Chairman Ahmad-Ali Harati-Nik said we can carry out some of the steel development projects in deprived regions with Chinese cooperation.

He expressed Tehran's readiness to implement copper, lead and zinc projects as well, and added that similar projects have been carried out by MCC in Iran's neighboring countries.
