The Azerbaijani Travel Agencies Association develops a project to expand the list of local banks offering consumer Travel loans, Association President Nahid Bagirov said today.
"Based on the official data, only Bank of Baku allocates such loans," he added.
According to him, given the real public demand for loans to pay for tours, in connection with disabilities part of the population, the association has decided to actively promote the "credit vouchers" to ensure a real holiday for everyone, as well as growth in the number of departing tourists.
He said 10 percent of departing tourists use services the vouchers in credit in Azerbaijan, he added.
Bagirov said that 70 percent of the local tourist companies deal with Bank of Baku, under which an initial contribution of 30 percent and the credit is granted for payment within one to two years, to sell vouchers in a loan. This increases the cost by 14-20 percent due to the bank actions.
The associating was established with Azerbaijani Tourism and Culture Ministry's assistance in 2009. Board members include heads of Improtex Travel, Caspian Travel, Pasha Travel, Silkway Travel and Euroturizm.
The association protects the interests of travel agencies, develops bills, recommendations and regulations, assists in establishing national travel companies, and develops plans to conduct trainings and seminars for market participants, creates conditions for advertising of Azerbaijani tourism at annual international exhibitions; develops domestic tourism and presents tourism products at the world market.
The association also tries to develop and introduce congressional tourism, help train specialists in the management and services spheres etc.
