From mid-April construction work on the project of opening the railway on the route of the Baku-Tbilisi-Kars, suspended in December because of bad weather will be resumed, Azerbaijani Deputy Transport Minister Musa Panahov said today.

According to him, there is no problem with the financing of this project. In 2011, construction work will complete. In 2012, this railway line will be commissioned.

A new 105-kilometer railroad is planned to be built within Baku-Tbilisi-Kars project. About 76 kilometers will stretch via Turkey, 29 kilometers - via Georgia. Moreover, a railway section Marabda-Akhalkalaki-Tbilisi will be reconstructed to increase capacity up to 15 million tons of cargo per year.

Construction on the Georgian territory is financed by the State Oil Fund of Azerbaijan. It is financed by a loan allocated to Georgia to the amount of $ 200 million.
