Turkey's fresh fruits and vegetables producers hope to export 3 million tons of products in 2011, Anadolu News Agency reported.

Fresh fruits and vegetables exports rose nearly three folds over the past decade and reached 2.7 million tons in 2010.

"Turkey earned 2 billion USD from fruits and vegetables exports in 2010," said Mustafa Satici, head of Fresh Fruits & Vegetables Exporters' Assembly of Antalya, Turkey's top tourism destination which also leads country's agriculture sector in citrus production and greenhouse cultivation.

"Turkey's target is to reach 500 billion USD of total exports by 2023. We hope to make 15 billion USD of fresh fruits and vegetables exports to help achieve this goal," Satici told the opening ceremony of FreshAntalya, Turkey's first and only international Fruits, Vegetables, Logistics and Technologies Fair.

FreshAntalya, which opened doors on Thursday, is expected to be visited by 7,500 professionals and dealers from 36 countries. More than 100 foreign companies are will seek business opportunities with Turkish companies during the three-day fair.
