Uzbekistan imposes excise duty on wheat flour imports at 15 percent

By the decision of the Uzbek government an excise duty will be imposed on wheat flour imports at 15 percent of customs value from April 1, the State Customs Committee (SCC) of the republic said on Monday.

In accordance with the document, the excise duty will be imposed on the import of wheat flour HS 110100-1103.

At present, import duties in the amount of five to 30 percent of customs value, depending on the HS code are set when importing wheat flour into Uzbekistan.

According to official statistics, in 2010, flour production in Uzbekistan decreased by 4.2 percent - to 1.217 million tons, while production of flour of the first grade is about 95 percent of total production.

Uzbekistan annually purchases over one million tons of flour on the international market.
