As of July 1, there were 1,985 ATMs and 10,609 POS-terminals in Azerbaijan accepting plastic cards, the Central Bank of Azerbaijan (CBA) said in its financial stability report.
In the first half-year, 22.37 million operations worth 2.91 million manat were carried out through ATMs and 788,000 operations worth 182 million manat through POS-terminals.
At the same time, compared to early this year, the number of plastic cards issued by the country's banks increased by 162,000 to 4.4 million. Thus, 726 plastic cards account for every 1,000 people in Azerbaijan.
The CBA has also noted a growth in the use of banking services through the Internet during the reporting period. During the second quarter, 14,600 operations worth 21.7 million manat were carried out through Internet banking.
