Turkey’s imports and exports to Syria reduced to a minimum for eight months, the Turkish Statistical Institute said today.

Turkey's imports and exports to Syria reduced to a minimum for eight months, the Turkish Statistical Institute said today.

According to the Statistics Institute, exports to Syria dropped by 67.3 percent and hit $ 333 million, while imports from Syria to Turkey decreased by 81.2 percent to $ 48 million.

Turkish exports as a whole increased by 16.9 percent in June and amounted to $13.2 billion compared to the same month of 2011. Import to Turkey declined by 5.4 percent to $20.4 billion per year.

Imports from the EU countries to Turkey hit 37 percent of total import volume in June this year compared to 48.2 percent in June 2011. Turkey's exports to the EU countries for the period declined by 10 percent to $4.9 billion.

Russia greatly imported to Turkey - $ 2.4 billion, or 33.5 percent more than in the same month of 2011, followed by Germany - $ 1.7 billion, China - $ 1.3 billion.
