Deputy Minister: Turkey expects up to $4 billion trade turnover growth with Azerbaijan

The trade turnover between Azerbaijan and Turkey will reach $4 billion a year in the coming years, Turkish Deputy Minister of Trade and Customs Fatih Metin told media today.

The trade turnover between Azerbaijan and Turkey will reach $4 billion a year in the coming years, Turkish Deputy Minister of Trade and Customs Fatih Metin told media today.

"Our goal is to bring the trade turnover between the two countries up to this point in the coming years and I am confident that this goal is achievable," he added.

According to him, there are prerequisites.

"Cooperation between our two fraternal countries is at an unprecedented level," he added. "It is being developed from year to year in all areas. Moreover, our countries form an important transit corridor between Europe and Asia. The favourable geographical position of Turkey and Azerbaijan will contribute towards gaining new achievements."

The trade turnover between Azerbaijan and Turkey amounted to $1.17 billion in January-July 2013. As of 2012, the figure was $2.12 billion. Turkey ranks third among the trading partners of Azerbaijan after Russia and the U.S.
