BAKU, Azerbaijan, April 27. Around 808,255 tons of cargo were transported from Portugal to Türkiye's ports from January through March 2024, Türkiye's Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure said, Trend reports.
According to the Ministry, Turkish-flagged ships delivered 22,460 tons of cargo to ports from Portugal, while ships under the flags of other countries delivered 746,753 tons of cargo.
During this period, 39,042 tons of cargo were delivered by Portuguese-flagged ships to ports in Türkiye. A total of 268,289 tons of transit cargo were transported to Turkish ports from Portugal from January through March 2024.
Meanwhile, the ports of Türkiye received 36.6 million tons of cargo in March 2024.
The cargo traffic to the inland ports by Turkish-flagged vessels amounted to 2.9 million tons during this period.
The cargo shipments of vessels with flags of other countries to the ports of Türkiye amounted to 33.7 million tons.
Besides, 5.6 million tons of transit cargo were transported from the ports of Türkiye in March 2024.
As to the Ministry's data, Türkiye's ports received 102.7 million tons of cargo from January through March 2024.
The cargo flow of Turkish-flagged vessels amounted to 7.7 million tons. Moreover, cargo traffic by vessels under the flags of other countries to the ports of Türkiye amounted to 95 million tons.
The report indicates that 16.8 million tons of transit cargo were transported from Turkish ports from January through March 2024.
However, Türkiye's ports received 4,834 vessels in March 2024.
Information shows that during this period, the number of vessels accepted by Turkish ports under the flags of other countries amounted to 3,324 and the number of vessels accepted under the flag of Türkiye amounted to 1,510.
To note, Türkiye's ports received 13,718 vessels from January through March 2024.
"During this time, the number of ships under the flags of other countries accepted by Turkish ports amounted to 9,372 and 4,346 under the Turkish flag," the statement of the ministry reads.
