By Daniyar Mukhtarov - Trend:

Estonian port intends to build LNG terminal on its territory and invites Kazakh KazMunaiGas Company to take part in this project, chief marketing manager at Silport JSC Andrei Birov told Trend.

"We invite KMG to build LNG terminal in our port and capture this market here," said Birov.

He said that the cost of the project is from 60 to 100 million euros.

"We intend to get a bank loan for this project, and we invite the investors," said Birov. "Russian and Western companies show interest in the project, as this is a promising trend."

He said that the cost of LNG in Singapore varies from $500 to $700 per 1,000 cubic meters and 340 euros per 1,000 cubic meters in Europe.

He reminded that earlier the European Union discussed the issue of building a regional (in the region of the Baltic Sea) LNG terminal in the Finnish port of Inco and in the port of Estonian town of Paldiski.

"But the Finnish and Estonian parties have not agreed on the project," said Birov. "The Finns felt that they do not need it, because besides the fact that it is necessary to build the terminal, it will be necessary to build a pipeline that will link the two terminals in order to create a single market. The Finns felt that it is unprofitable. They work with Gazprom. It is beneficial for them to have their own terminal, and they receive gas directly from Russia."
