In January-August 2015, Kazakhstan produced 30.2 billion cubic meters of natural gas, which is 6 percent more than in the same period last year, Deputy Minister of Energy of Kazakhstan Uzakbai Karabalin said during a press conference at the office of the Central Communications, said the message posted on the website of the service.
He said that the growth of gas production in Kazakhstan has been observed not for the first time.
Last year, gas production in the country amounted to 43.2 billion cubic meters, which is 2.2 percent more than the same period of 2013.
"In general, there is a positive trend to achieve the annual target for gas production in 2015 (42.2 billion cubic meters), taking into account the implementation of the planned geological and technical measures by the country's subsoil users in order to increase natural gas production and commissioning of facilities for processing of associated gas," said Karabalin.
The main growth of gas production is provided by such large mining companies as Karachaganak Petroleum Operating, Tengizchevroil, CNPC-Aktobe.
In addition, the vice minister of energy said that processing volumes of natural gas are growing in Kazakhstan.
"During January-August 2015, some 1.69 million tons of liquefied petroleum gas was produced, which is 7 percent more than [the index of] the same period last year," he said. "The production plan for the current year is 2.519 million tons of gas compared to last year's 2.464 million tons of gas."
Thus, a surplus of liquefied petroleum gas is observed on the domestic market of Kazakhstan, which also demonstrates the positive dynamics of the production growth.
