Uzbek insurers increase collection of premiums

Insurance companies of Uzbekistan have increased the collection of premiums by 27 percent in January-September of 2015 compared to the same period of 2014 and brought it to 398.494 billion soms, the country's Ministry of Finance said.

The official exchange rate on Dec.9 is 2750.43 UZS / $1.

The voluntary insurance premiums reached 264.362 billion soms (a 22-percent increase), compulsory insurance - 134.132 billion soms (a 37-percent increase).

During the reporting period, the following companies entered the top five for the collection of premiums: Uzagrosugurta JSC - 82.354 billion soms (an increase by 38.8 percent), National Export-Import Insurance (NEIIC) Uzbekinvest - 49.41 billion soms (36.3 percent), Insurance company Kafolat JSC - 41.514 billion soms ( 35.8 percent), Alskom JSC - 23.282 billion soms (32.2 percent) and Alfa Invest - 21.791 billion soms (4.8 percent).

Total payments of Uzbek insurers rose by 56 percent and stood at 82.956 billion soms in Jan.-Sept.

Payments on voluntary insurance have increased by 62 percent and totaled 50.495 billion soms, while the payments on compulsory insurance have grown by 47 percent and stood at 32.461 billion soms.

The largest volume of payments were carried out by Uzagrosugurta - 18.34 billion soms (an increase by 76.6 percent), Uzbekinvest Hayot specialized in life insurance - 10.519 billion soms (51.4 percent), NEIIC Uzbekinvest - 9.602 billion soms (6 percent), Agro Invest Sug'urta JSC - 8.951 billion soms (almost 2.2 times increase), Kafolat Insurance company - 8.903 billion soms (28.8 percent).

The Ministry of Finance said that 31 insurance companies with total authorized capital of 398.635 billion soms (as of Oct.1 2015) operated in Uzbekistan as of early October 2015.

Uzbek insurance companies increased the collection of premiums by 29 percent in 2014 compared to 2013 and brought it to 436.1 billion soms, while the total payments of the country's insurers stood at 72.4 billion soms (8.1-percent increase) in 2014.
