Azerbaijan’s non-oil industry grows by 3.4%

Azerbaijan’s non-oil sector showed a 3.4-percent growth in January-October 2017, while the oil sector decreased by 5.9 percent as compared to the same period of 2016, says a report of the country’s State Statistics Committee.

The total volume of industrial production (the volume of produced goods and rendered industrial services) in Azerbaijan amounted to 32 billion manats in January-October 2017, which is by 23.1 percent more than in the same period of 2016.

The private sector accounted for 79.9 percent in the industrial sphere.

During the period, the volume of production in the extractive industry reached 15.3 billion manats, which is by 6.4 percent less than in January-October 2016, says the report.

Meanwhile, 32.2 million tons of oil and 15.1 billion cubic meters of gas were produced in Azerbaijan in the period.

Oil production decreased by 7.2 percent and gas production decreased by 2.6 percent in January-October 2017, as compared to the same period of 2016.

The production volume in the processing industry amounted to 7.95 billion manats (24.8 percent of total industrial output) in January-October 2017, which is by 4 percent less than in the same period of 2016.

During the period, production, distribution and supply of electricity, gas and heat decreased by 0.4 percent, and water supply, waste treatment and processing decreased by 0.9 percent as compared to the same period of 2016.
