Azerbaijan may start supply of bikes to Middle East

Azerbaijani company ISMA Bikes is discussing bicycle supplies to Georgia and the United Arab Emirates, General Director of the Company Elchin Gahramanov told Trend May 14.

"Georgia and the UAE have shown interest in our home-made bikes. At the moment, negotiations with importers from these countries are being held, and various technical details are being discussed," Gahramanov said.

Speaking about the company's plans in the domestic market, he noted that in the first quarter of this year 5,000 bicycles were produced, half of which have already been sold. Production plans for the whole year is 30,000 bicycles.

"Active bicycle sales coincide with the warm period of the year, approximately from May to September. Our plans will largely depend on the outcome of this period. We will determine the needs of the market, find out which models are in demand the most," said the CEO, adding that currently the company manufactures about 50 models of bicycles.

Gahramanov also touched upon plans to expand the centers for sale of the company's products. He noted that the official sales centers of the company now operate both in the capital city and in the regions of Azerbaijan, and the expansion of the sales network is planned.

In the coming years, Gahramanov added, the company can also start the production of individual component parts for bicycles.

ISMA Bikes Company being the first bicycle manufacturer in Azerbaijan, is part of Synergy group of companies. The company's factory operates Ismayilli district of Azerbaijan. The company started selling bicycles last summer.
