Japan will supply Uzbekistan with free road equipment of the country's leading enterprises for repairing roads in rural areas of the Syrdarya, Jizzakh, Khorezm regions and the Republic of Karakalpakstan within the Obod Kishlok (Comfortable Village) program, the press service of the State Roads Committee of Uzbekistan stated on May 30.
The corresponding agreement was achieved as a result of signing of notes on the “Assistance to Increase the Technical Capacity of the Road Infrastructure of Uzbekistan” project by Chairman of the State Roads Committee Abdurakhmon Abduvaliyev and Japanese Ambassador to Tashkent Nobuaki Ito.
The project of free assistance of the Japanese government provides for the supply of equipment worth 800 million Japanese yen (over $7.3 million).
According to the Japanese Embassy in Tashkent, the project should contribute to the development of the infrastructure potential of Uzbekistan.
