Big unused potential in trade and economy between Uzbekistan and Finland was stressed during a meeting between Uzbek Deputy Minister of Foreign Trade Sahib Saifnazarov and Ambassador of Finland to Uzbekistan Maria Elina Liivalani, UzDaily reported citing the Uzbek Ministry for Foreign Trade.
The ministry proposed to organize an Uzbek-Finnish business forum to jointly develop proposals and measures for further expansion of trade and economic cooperation.
In January-September 2018, mutual trade between the countries amounted to $20.9 million.
Electrical equipment and services are mainly exported by Uzbekistan. Paper products, electrical and mechanical equipment, chemical products, plastic products, vehicles, pharmaceutical products, ferrous metals, tools and optical instruments are mainly imported by the country.
To date, there are two enterprises in Uzbekistan with Finnish investments - Impex Finland and Nokia Solutions and Network Tashkent, with a 100 percent Finnish capital.
