Iran to increase steel production by 50M tons in 2025

In perspective of 2025, Iran's steel production will reach 50 million tons, said Reza Bahraman, Head of Iran Mine House, Trend reports referring to the website of Iran's Sistan and Baluchistan Province Industry, Mining and Trade Organization.

According to Bahraman, the remaining part of the steel - taking into account the expected 37 million tons to be used by Iran - will be up for export.

Bahraman said that the investments in the mining sector remain small and unsatisfactory, and that investments should be increased.

"We would like to hold an international conference next year (begins March 21, 2019) in Sistan and Baluchestan, in order to attract foreign investments," he said.

Bahraman also said that, with this, foreign resources would be used to develop the mining industry of the Sistan and Baluchestan Province. He also remarked that the port of Chabahar will have a major role in the steel exports of the province.

Also, Dr. Bagher Kord, Deputy Governor of Sistan and Baluchestan Province, said that 3.7 trillion rials (some $88 million) have been invested in the mining sector in Sistan and Baluchestan Province so far.

According to Dr. Kord, 63 percent of the mines in Sistan and Baluchestan Province are used for mining for raw materials used in making construction materials, with 37 percent used for obtaining other materials.

Dr. Kord added that 7,200 people are employed in the mining sector of the province.
