GDP of Eurasian Economic Union members increases

Prime Ministers of the EEU member parties participated in the meeting of the Eurasian Intergovernmental Council in Yerevan, Trend reports via Kazakhstan’s Prime-Minister’s press office.

Some 13 issues on trade and economy cooperation, as well as the topic of the expansion of the mutual trade of EEU members were discussed.

The meeting was attended by Dmitry Medvedev, Prime Minister of Russia, Syarhey Rumas, Prime Minister of Belarus, Nikol Pashinyan, Prime Minister of Armenia, Mukhammedkalyi Abylgaziev, Prime Minister of Kyrgyzstan and Tigran Sargsyan, the Chairman of the EEC (Eurasian Economic Commission) Board.

The member parties highlighted the positive dynamics of the main social and economy indicators of 2018. The GDP growth of member parties totaled 2.5 percent and the growth of industrial production totaled 3.1 percent. In 2018 the volume of mutual trade in EEU increased by 9.2 percent. Similar trend can be observed in foreign trade with the annual increase of 18.8 percent.

"The extended negotiations were held on the topics of the improvement of the foreign economic activity regulation on the Single-window System principle, as well as on the topics of the creation of digital trade in EEU development, development of industrial cooperation and technology transfer, further acceleration of integration potential in certain spheres of economy," reads the message.

The prime minister of Kazakhstan highlighted the importance of the improvement of the regulation of the issues on the goods labeling integration cooperation, the implementation of the transit traffic traceability, the intensification of the customs administration, the development of the digital trade, as well as the strengthening of the transit potential of the Union in the sphere of the data transit.

Prime ministers also covered a number of Union's development issues: the ways of cross-border liaison development, cooperation on the increase of the volume of goods turnover between the EEU members, as well as the improvement of the customs administration.

A number of agreements on the obstacles removal within the functioning of the internal market of EEU, on the creation of the digital trade ecosystem, on the description of the national model of foreign economic activity regulation on the Single-window System principle, on the adoption of a unified system of the product’s country of origin identification at the border were signed.

The next meeting is to be held on August 9, 2019 in Kyrgyzstan’s Cholpon-Ata.

The Eurasian Economic Union is an economic union of states located in central and northern Asia and Eastern Europe. It includes Kazakhstan, Russia, Belarus, Armenia and Kyrgyzstan.
