By Nargiz Sadikhova - Trend:

The industrial production in January-April 2019 increased by 2.9 percent, Trend reports via the press office of the Ministry of the National Economy of Kazakhstan.

“The increase is due to the significant growth of the processing industry,” said Ruslan Dalenov, the Minister of the National Economy.

“Still, the decrease of the growth of the mining industry is observed. Currently, the growth amounts to only 2.6 percent compared to 4.8 percent in three months. This is mainly due to negative flow of the oil extraction dynamic,” said the minister.

“The volume decreased by 1.1 percent in the reporting period. Whereas, in 1Q2019 the growth amounted to 2.7 percent. The decrease is due to oil extraction decrease on the Kashagan Field that is to do with preventive maintenance,” said Ruslan Dalenov.

The minister also stated that the growth trend is observed in the processing industry, the output of which has increased up to 3.5 percent in first four months. In 1Q2019 the increase amounted to 1.6 percent.

“The increase of the processing rate is due to increase of oil processing, engineering, beverage industry, as well as the switch of the pharmaceuticals into the positive zone. Furthermore, the situation with steel industry continues to improve. The negative value has decreased from -12.5 percent in January 2019 to -1.5 percent in January-April 2019,” he said.
