Kazakhstan, Lithuania highlight spheres of co-op interest

Lithuania and Kazakhstan have traditionally enjoyed a close political dialogue, friendly people-to-people contacts, and cooperation in a wide range of areas of mutual interest, representative of Lithuania’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs told Trend.

According to the representative, Lithuania and Kazakhstan established their diplomatic relations in 1992 and maintain their high-level political dialogue through regular bilateral visits.

“The Seimas of Lithuania and the Parliament of Kazakhstan are cooperating actively. Our Governments are organizing regular meetings of the Intergovernmental Commission on Trade and Economic Cooperation,” the representative said.

Furthermore, as noted by the official, recently, the Lithuanian-Kazakhstan Business Council has resumed its activities.

“Business missions visit both Lithuania and Kazakhstan. Political consultations are regularly held between the Foreign Ministries of the two countries. Lithuania and Kazakhstan are also cooperating within international organizations and multilateral forums,” he said.

Talking about spheres of future cooperation between countries, the official added, that countries are deepening cooperation in trade, transport, education, healthcare, IT, tourism, and other areas.
