BAKU, Azerbaijan, Feb. 2

By Tamilla Mammadova – Trend:

A memorandum of understanding was signed between the United States Agency for International Development (USAID), Georgia and Israel's Agency for International Development Cooperation (MASHAV), Trend reports citing the Ministry of Environment Protection and Agriculture of Georgia.

The memorandum was signed by USAID Deputy Director Bonnie Glick, Minister of Agriculture of Georgia Levan Davitashvili and Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Israel to Georgia Ran Gidor.

The memorandum provides for the strengthening of a global partnership between Georgia, the United States and Israel. Activities and cooperation within the framework of the Memorandum will contribute to increasing agricultural income in Georgia, improving the well-being of the rural population and, consequently, the country's economic development.

Davitashvili thanked the US and Israel for the long-term partnership and noted that the Memorandum will help the development of Georgia’s agriculture.

“We have close and long-term cooperation with both the United States and the state of Israel. The memorandum signed today is an important prerequisite for the exchange of experience and knowledge of American and Jewish experts in the field of agriculture,” Davitashvili said.

“In the framework of the tripartite partnership, special attention will be paid to agriculture and tourism. These two areas are crucial for the Georgian economy. The aim of the cooperation is to increase agricultural production in Georgia, as well as increase the share of agriculture in the global economy,” said Bonnie Glick.

“Today's Memorandum of Understanding is aimed at deepening triangular cooperation between Georgia, the United States and Israel. Our goal is to expand triangular cooperation to cover all areas important for Georgia,” said Ran Gidor.
