The Georgian company Telavi Wine Cellar adds a new production line, Trend reports citing Georgiandairy.org, an information and analytical resource in Georgia.

As reported, the founder of the Telavi Wine Cellar Zurab Ramazashvili plans to produce cheese at Telavi Wine Cellar.

“For this purpose, we plan to build a new facility at the enterprise,” Ramazashvili said.

Ramazashvili owns two companies - Telavi Wine Cellar and LTD Mtsvane Rancho. Both companies are involved in wine production, and, as reported, both enterprises will be engaged in the production of cheese.

According to Ramazashvili, the Mtsvane Rancho, which also produces milk and milk products, was built in 2014. The enterprenuer invested about 900,000 lari ($319,550) in this project.

“We have 65 dairy cows at Mtsvane Rancho, which produces about 1,000 liters of milk a day. The whole volume is supplied Soplis nobati for processing,” Ramazashvili explained.

Telavi Wine Cellar is a large winery in Georgia that combines centuries-old national traditions with modern methods in Georgian winemaking. Telavi Wine Cellar was founded in 1915, near Telavi, the central city of Kakheti, the leading wine-growing region of Georgia.

Export of dairy products from Georgia amounted to $3.4 million in 2019, says the National Statistical Office of Georgia (Geostat). In the reporting period, export of cheese amounted to $377,000

In 2019, cheese exports increased by 25 percent compared to 2018.

Georgian cheese was mainly exported to the US ($290,000), Israel ($52,000), Uzbekistan ($21,000) and Hong Kong ($7,000).
