BAKU, Azerbaijan, April 8

Trend:

Turkmenistan’s private sector is hoping for a rich potato harvest, Trend reports with reference to Union of Industrialists and Entrepreneurs of Turkmenistan.

The local farmers have determined the necessary timing of planting potatoes for each climate zone of the country. Turkmenistan's farmers plan to harvest from 14 to 20 tons of crops by the beginning of summer.

Special highly productive varieties of potatoes have been selected for the climate zone of Turkmenistan, which gives reason to expect a good harvest. The first sprouts of potatoes have already appeared in the fields.

President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov highlighted the need to increase the production of vegetable and fruit crops at one of the last meetings of the Cabinet Of Ministers.

These measures are necessary because the supply of products to the local market improves the abundance and quality of life of Turkmen citizens.

The head of state also said that one of the main reasons of sowing potatoes is its use in the national cuisine of Turkmenistan.
