Volume of loaded, unloaded cargo at Iran’s Eastern railway stations increases

The volume of unloaded cargo at Iran's Eastern railway stations increased four times (393.7 percent) from the beginning of the current Iranian year (March 20, 2020) to July 26, compared to the same period last Iranian year, director general of the Eastern Railway Reza Sharghi told IRNA, Trend reports.

The director general noted that during this period, more than 482,000 tons of cargo was unloaded at the stations that is controlled by Eastern Railway.

However, more than 97,800 tons of cargo was unloaded at the Eastern railway stations in the same period of last Iranian year, he added.

Sharghi stressed that the volume of cargo loaded at the stations of the Eastern Railway in the current Iranian year has increased by 21 percent.

"About 2.48 million tons of cargo was loaded at the stations of the railway in the current Iranian year," he said.

According to Sharghi, the loaded products were mainly iron ore pellets and concentrates, coal concentrate, coke, cement, fluorine and bentonite.
