Iran boosts exports via Khorramshahr customs

BAKU, Azerbaijan, August 10

The exports of non-oil products through the border customs of Khorramshahr county of Khuzestan Province (southwestern Iran) increased by 54 percent in terms of value and by 2 percent in terms of volume during the first 4 months of the current Iranian year (March 20, 2020 - July 21, 2020), compared to the same period last Iranian year, director general of the Khorramshahr Customs Office Ali Soleimani said, Trend reports citing Islamic Republic of Iran Customs Administration (IRICA).

Soleimani said that 686,000 tons of products worth $112.5 million were exported through the customs during this period.

Soleimani added that the exported products were mainly construction materials, vegetables and agricultural products.

The director general emphasized that these products were mainly exported to Iraq, Kuwait, Turkey, the UAE, Uzbekistan and other countries.

“More than 214,900 tons of products worth $35.8 million were exported through Khorramshahr customs in the 4th month of current Iranian year (June 21-July 21). The exports increased by 85 percent in terms of value and 16 percent in terms of volume compared to the same month last Iranian year," he said.

According to the director general, 578 tons of products worth $10.3 million were transited through the customs during 4 months. The product transit increased by 116 percent in terms of value and 188 percent in terms of volume compared to the same period last Iranian year.

Soleimani noted that Khorramshahr customs revenues exceeded 696 billion rials (about $16.5 million) in four months.
