Hazelnut harvest has started in Georgian Samegrelo region, Trend reports via Ministry of Environmental Protection and Agriculture.
The First Deputy Minister of Environmental Protection and Agriculture Giorgi Khanishvili visited the hazelnut dryer of the Georgian Hazelnut Producers Association and hazelnut processing plant ‘’Geo Nuts’’.
Khanishvili got familiar with the delivery process of hazelnuts and got information about the results of the laboratory tests of hazelnuts.
At present, the hazelnut processing plant has already delivered the first batch of the crop, which will be exported in the coming days.These days, the first batch of a hazelnut crop will be shipped to Germany for export.
This year, 50,000-55,000 tons of hazelnuts are expected to be harvested, which is a significantly improved figure compared to the previous year.
