Buyan, Turkmenabat Agro-industrial Complex of the Ministry of Health and Medical Industry of Turkmenistan has extracted 10,000 tons of licorice root since the campaign started in the spring, Trend reports with reference to "Zolotoy Vek" (Golden Age) newspaper.
The licorice root is dried, cleared of impurities, and then is sent for processing.
A significant part of the collected raw materials is exported, and the surplus goes to the domestic market.
As reported, Turkmenistan plans to increase both production and export volumes of licorice root and its derivatives.
Modern plant for processing a part of the root into dry licorice extract has been put into operation in Turkmenabat in 2008, which contributed to the increase of Turkmen licorice export.
Licorice root, as well as its dense and dry extracts, are on high demand abroad, which is reflected by the outcomes of exchange trades.
China, Russia, USA, France, Great Britain, India, Serbia, UAE, South Korea and many other countries import licorice from Turkmenistan.
