Iran sees increase in exports

The exports of Iran increased by 80 percent in terms of value and 56 percent in terms of volume in the 1st month of the current Iranian year (March 21 through April 20, 2021), compared to the same month last Iranian year, Director General of Islamic Republic of Iran Customs Administration (IRICA), Mehdi Mirashrafi said, Trend reports citing IRICA.

Mirashrafi emphasized that Iran exported a total of 8.3 million tons of goods worth $2.97 billion in the first month.

“So, Iran exported 2.26 million tons of goods worth $974 million to China during the month. The exports increased by 86 percent in terms of value and 37 percent in terms of volume compared to the same month last Iranian year,” he added.

The director-general noted that Iran also exported 1.53 million tons of goods worth $428 million to Iraq in the 1st month. This is an increase of 66 percent in terms of value and 77 percent in terms of volume compared to the same month last Iranian year.

According to him, Iran's exports to the United Arab Emirates amounted to 1.2 million tons worth $417 million over the first month. Iran’s exports to the UAE increased by 17 percent in terms of value and volume compared to the same month last Iranian year.

“Moreover, Iran exported 191,000 tons of goods worth $177 million to Turkey during the 1st month. This is an increase of 149 percent in terms of value and 7.5 percent in terms of volume compared to the same month last Iranian year,” he said.

Mirashrafi stressed Iran exported 452,000 tons of goods worth $175 million to Afghanistan within the mentioned month. The exports increased by 42 percent in terms of value and 17 percent in terms of volume compared to the same month last Iranian year.

The director-general also said that gasoline ranks first in Iran's exports in the 1st month of the current Iranian year.

“Iran's trade turnover amounted to 10.3 million tons worth $5.76 billion in the 1st month of the current Iranian year. The trade turnover increased by 62.5 percent in terms of value and 32 percent in terms of volume compared to the same month last Iranian year,” the official noted.
