The Turkmen Mähriban obam company has exported 7,298 tons of fresh tomatoes since the beginning of 2021, Trend reports, citing the Business Turkmenistan information portal.
The Turkmen tomatoes were exported from the customs of the Mary region of Turkmenistan to such countries as Russia, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan and Azerbaijan.
The company produces 18,000 tons of tomatoes of various varieties during the year. The company's greenhouse is located in the Mary region.
Currently, there are more than 100 modern greenhouses with a total area of 350 hectares in Turkmenistan.
So, in March of this year, 6 large greenhouses were opened in Turkmenistan, the total area of which was 35 hectares.
The production of vegetables in the country increased by 24.8 percent compared to the same period last year, and fruits and berries – by 3.2 percent from January through March 2021.
Greenhouses play an important role in maintaining food security in Turkmenistan. Private agricultural producers of Turkmenistan provide the domestic and foreign markets with various varieties of tomatoes, cucumbers, bell peppers, strawberries, and some other food products.
Large-scale transformations are being carried out in Turkmenistan aimed at improving the efficiency of agriculture, the priority direction of which is the creation of greenhouses and enterprises for processing agricultural raw materials.
Thanks to state support, entrepreneurs and private enterprises in Turkmenistan not only supply domestic markets with high-quality products but also export them abroad.
