Рђbbas Abbasov: Рђzerbaijan plans to reach long-term agreement for passage of vessels through Russia's inner waters

The governments of Azerbaijan and Russia are holding negotiations in regard to getting permits for passage of the Azerbaijan vessels through the Volga-Don and Volga-Baltic canals on the long-term basis, the first vice Premier of the Azerbaijan government Abbas Abbasov told journalists today,Trend reports.

В"We raised the issue of the long-term permit but not a one -time only for passing of our ships through the Russias inner waters to the government of the Russian Federation, Abbasov noted. The Russian government issued permits for passing of 24 Azerbaijani vessels through the Volga-Don and Volga-Baltic canals on 14 February 2005.

However, as the vice Premier noted Azerbaijan intends to reach agreement on passing ships on the long-term basis. The negotiations are currently underway on the issue between the governments of the both countries.
