Transport Ministry completed preparation of Baku-Samur highway reconstruction project

The Yolnagliyatservis department under the Azerbaijan Transport Ministry accomplished preparation of the Baku-Samur highway reconstruction working project. It has been submitted for coordination by the countrys relevant Ministries and Departments. Tender will be held for identifying the project contractor following approval of the tender documentation, the Transport Ministry told Trend.

Tender on two lots is supposed to be announced in late March or early April this year. Thus, the project implementation may be performed by both one and two contractors, the Ministry noted.

Funds for the project realization are allocated by the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) and the В"Eximbank. The EBRD loan amounts to $100 million. They are given on standard conditions under the state guarantees. The means will be spent for rehabilitation of the road from 28 km to 89 km. The rest part of the highway of 208 km length will be renovated on Czech Eximbank funds of $180 million. This loan is a syndicated one. From the total size, $102 million is allocated by Eximbank and $78 million by the French BNP Paribas bank. The loan has been given for 15 years with the privileged period of 4 years and the Libor+0,6% interest rate.
