Azerbaijan, Baku / corr. Trend E.Huseynly, S.Aliyev / The five-year development program of the State Railway Department of Azerbaijan in 2007-2011 will be adopted in the near future. The Deputy Transport Minister of Azerbaijan, Musa Panahov, stated on 10 May that presently the document is under perusal.
According to him, the project is estimated at $1 bln. The program envisages reconstructing trains and train depots, improving the energy economy, reconstructing the railway economy and re-establishing other infrastructures.
In addition, it is expected to realize the project of launching a speed passenger train via the route from Baku-Boyuk-Kesik to Georgian border, 502 km in length.
