SOCAR plans to conduct exploration work in a number of fields and structures in the Azerbaijani sector of the Caspian Sea at its own expense, an interview with the President of SOCAR Rovnag Abdullayev, posted on the official website of the ruling New Azerbaijan Party said.
According to Abdullayev, the company is planning to explore deposits and structures, "Babak", "Ashrafi" and "Karabakh" by internal funds.
Currently, after a long break, the company conducts drilling exploration on the prospective offshore structure Umid. Now oil companies themselves are working on offshore Guneshli field (shallow part), "Oil Rocks", "Hovsan", "Gum Adasi," Pirallahi", as well as onshore deposits "Balakhany", "Bibiheybat" and "Buzovna".
Abdullayev said that the company also pays attention to proposals submitted by foreign companies. Azerbaijan has enough oil reserves, concentrated both on offshore and oshore deposits of the country that attract foreign companies.
