The State Oil Company of the Azerbaijan Republic's (SOCAR) Ecology Management completed the first monitoring season at the Oily Rocks offshore oil and gas field, the company reported.
According to the report, the monitoring determined the impact of energy production on the Caspian Sea, explored the current state of the environment, and examined the population density of plankton and the nutrient content of the upper and lower strata. During the monitoring, the company collected 291 samples, which are currently being studied.
The management will develop a report based on laboratory results from the first and second monitoring seasons. The final report will reflect the geological structure of deposits, meteorological conditions, and field infrastructure, and a water and sediment, and microbiological analysis.
