Russian companies show interest in Azerbaijani alternative energy sources market

Several Russian companies have shown interest in cooperating with Azerbaijan in the field of alternative and renewable energy, Deputy Head of the Azerbaijani Alternative and Renewable Energy Agency of the Industry and Energy Ministry, Jamil Malikov, said on Tuesday.
He said that Russian companies offer cooperation in supplying equipment, techniques and technologies in the alternative energy sources field. In general, the proposals cover cooperation on the supply of equipment in the solar energy field.
Malikov said the agency had already received proposals, but no concrete negotiation has been launched yet.
The Russian Trade Representation in Azerbaijan also confirmed that the country's companies show great interest in participating in the development of alternative and renewable energy sources in Azerbaijan. In particular, several Russian companies seek to partake in oil and gas exhibition to be held in Baku in June.
Today, the Azerbaijani Alternative and Renewable Energy Agency is working to develop an alternative energy development program. The preparation on a multi-program, which will cover the short, medium and long term plans to develop this industry, is scheduled to be completed by late 2012.
